THE COEUR D'ALENE CHORUS of Sweet Adelines International is a women’s singing organization committed to musical excellence through education and performance to enrich the lives of its members and the community. Organized in 1985, the chorus has 20 members and is a part of North Pacific Region #13 which includes choruses in Washington, Alaska and North Idaho. The chorus performs for civic and charitable organizations, private groups, churches, community events, fundraisers, and produces an annual show featuring quality barbershop entertainment and local talent. The Christmas season brings the tradition of strolling carolers in the Victorian style. We have a special ongoing project of annual donations to the Coeur d’Alene Women’s Center, Children’s Village and the Young Singers Foundation. The Chorus Director is Dr. Jay Krumbholz who holds a Ph.D. in music theory from the Eastman School of Music and has taught in the music department at Spokane Falls Community College since 2004. He has held teaching positions at Knox College, the Eastman School of Music, the Oberlin Conservatory, and DePauw University. Jay lives in Spokane and is an active member of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS), singing in the Pages of Harmony, Spokane's male barbershop chorus and in the quartet Dynamix. He is also a Music Category Judge in the BHS and travels across the United States to adjudicate barbershop contests. He has formerly directed barbershop choruses in Missoula, MT, Cleveland, OH, and Davenport, IA. |
